Appeal to the G20 and UN Heads of State to put an end to the tragedy of children of Noma
Sign the appeal to the leaders of the G20 and UN member states and governments, and put an end to Noma, disease of extreme poverty, which kills more than 140,000 children every year in the world’s poorest areas.
To the Heads of State of the G20 and UN Member States
Appeal launched by Noma Fund association
Their excellencies, Heads of state or government,
You may not know it, but even today, in the poorest parts of the world, there is a devastating and staggering childhood disease, called Noma. Its victims, children aged between 2 and 6 years old, reach more than 140,000 each year, who are in 90% of cases condemned to a death without appeal.
The disease manifests itself as gangrene in the face, leaving the few survivors completely disfigured, bruised and suffering from enormous speech and social integration difficulties. It develops in conditions of extreme poverty, where malnutrition, lack of hygiene and care are rampant.
Also, in order to fight this disease from another time and to put an end to the atrocious suffering endured by the victims of Noma, Noma Fund has launched the action plan “Acting against Noma 2021-2030”.
This plan, which includes raising awareness among populations at risk, preventing the disease, and building a hospital and care centres to treat and reintegrate Noma victims, involves the various actors and local governments in countries affected by the disease.
Nevertheless, despite all our goodwill, the scope of our action and message cannot have the desired effect without your support. You, the leaders of the world’s greatest powers, are at the heart of the success of this action plan.
That is why we call for your support in the fight against Noma, and ask you to please include the fight against the disease on the agenda of the next G20 summit. We also request your approval for the holding of the “International conference for the eradication of Noma”, which Noma Fund wishes to organize in order to effectively implement the means defined in the action plan “Acting against Noma 2021-2030”.
They support the petition
Roger Milla is committed to the fight against Noma and has initiated many petitions for the eradication of Noma, the disease of extreme poverty.
A leading figure in the fight against Noma, Joseph-Antoine Bell wishes to bring this disease, which silently kills 140,000 children a year, to the attention of political leaders with a view to its eradication.
The petitions against Noma, relayed on the noma-petition.org website, have the support of former international François Omam-Biyic, who is actively involved in the fight against Noma.
As passionate about football as he is about humanitarian causes, moved by Noma disease, Patrick Mboma has decided to put himself forward to put an end to this suffering that affects children.
What is the purpose of signing the appeal to the heads of state of the G20 and UN member states?
It is with the purpose of raising awareness and sensitization on Noma disease that the appeal to the heads of state members of the G20 and the UN, supported by Noma Fund association, is being launched. Bringing to their attention the very existence of Noma disease, its devastating consequences, and the simplicity of the means required to eradicate the disease for good, are the short, medium and long term goals of our appeal.
Signing the appeal to the leaders of the G20 and UN member states means allowing the poorest children to escape a disease that still kills 90% of its 140,000 annual victims. Let’s put an end to this injustice!
TO RAISE POLITICAL AND SOCIAL AWARENESS
Noma is a little-known disease. Raising awareness of Noma and its consequences in the international community is the first step towards eradicating the disease.
TO DEPLOY THE MEANS TO ERADICATE THE DISEASE
With few resources, it is possible to eradicate Noma disease. By signing the call to Heads of State, you are helping to support the action plan “Acting against Noma 2021-2030”.
FOR THE 140,000 CHILDREN WHO DIE EVERY YEAR
Nearly 140,000 children die each year from Noma disease. By signing the appeal to Heads of State, you are helping to reverse the disease, and reduce this appalling figure.
